Guest Post: Kimberly S. Lin

I am pleased to have the author of Recession Proof here today. Welcome Kimberly S. Lin!

Although my book isn’t really about recession proof careers per se, this is still a fun question and I’ll do my best “Suze Orman” in answering— do I think recession proof careers exist? I think there are certain industries that will always be better cushioned in an economic downturn. Some that come to mind quickly are accounting, medical and pornography. I think I just said a mouthful.
 
Anyways, I do believe that outside of obvious practicalities and this is what I get at in Recession Proof— is that if you do what you love and stay true to yourself, you’ll always be fulfilled. So in essence, you’ll always have a “recession proof” career.
 
For me, I took the plunge last June when I quit my secure financial job and published Recession Proof and essentially became an entrepreneur. Since then, I’ve been working on my second novel and am the Publisher and Co-Founder of Minted Magazine, a digital magazine empowering women in their careers and life. Even though, I probably work 18-hour days, including weekends— I never feel as though I’m “working.” And that’s incredibly rewarding in it of itself.
